It is with profound sadness that the ADSUM Diocese of Bacolod announces the passing of Rev. Fr. Ireneo Gordoncillo, a devoted servant of God and a beloved spiritual father to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Fr. Ireneo returned peacefully to his Creator on the afternoon of April 1, 2026, leaving a legacy of faith, humility, and unwavering dedication to the Church and the faithful he served.
Fr. Ireneo’s life was a testament to steadfast devotion and pastoral care. During his tenure as Assistant Priest of San Isidro Labrador Parish in Tangub, he embodied the true essence of a shepherd, guiding his parishioners with compassion, patience, and wisdom. His ministry reflected a rare combination of humility and strength, offering comfort to the grieving, counsel to the troubled, and spiritual guidance to all seeking a closer relationship with God.
Known for his gentle presence and unwavering commitment to service, Fr. Ireneo nurtured a community bound by faith and love. His work went far beyond the walls of the parish; he inspired countless individuals through his example of sacrifice, generosity, and dedication. He carried out his priestly duties with joy, never seeking recognition, but always aiming to illuminate the path of Christ for those entrusted to his care.
The words of St. Paul in 2 Timothy 4:7—“Bonum certamen certavi, cursum consummavi, fidem servavi”—perfectly encapsulate Fr. Ireneo’s life: he fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. His journey reminds us that a life dedicated to God and service to others leaves a lasting impact that transcends the boundaries of earthly life.
As we grieve his loss, we also celebrate his life—a life filled with devotion, love, and service. We entrust his soul to the mercy of God, confident that he now rests in eternal peace. The Diocese humbly calls upon all faithful to remember Fr. Ireneo in their prayers, asking the Lord to grant him rest, perpetual light, and the fullness of joy in paradise.
May the memory of Rev. Fr. Ireneo Gordoncillo continue to inspire clergy and laity alike to live lives of faith, compassion, and service. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
