It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Tyler James Owens, 40, of Florence, South Carolina. Tyler’s sudden loss on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, has left an indelible void in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was one marked by devotion, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved and served.

Born on September 23, 1985, Tyler spent the past 20 years in Florence, where he became a cherished member of the community. A proud graduate of Pearl High School, Class of 2004, Tyler began his professional journey with the Pearl Police Department, where he served with integrity and dedication. Later, he joined SEFCO/CED in Jackson, bringing to his work the same loyalty, perseverance, and excellence that defined every aspect of his life. Though naturally shy, Tyler excelled as a salesman, earning numerous awards and recognition for his professionalism and determination.

Beyond his career, Tyler was a person of immense heart and generosity. He loved fiercely, gave freely of his time and attention, and valued relationships above all else. Whether through friendship, family connections, or community involvement, Tyler’s presence was a source of strength, laughter, and authenticity. Those who knew him speak of a man whose compassion and devotion were felt by everyone he encountered.

Tyler is preceded in death by his first wife, April Koen Owens, and his grandparents, James and Isabel Smith, and Edward and Peggy Owens. He is survived by his loving wife, Tara Owens, his parents, Isabel and Larry Thomas and David and Liz Owens, his siblings, stepdaughters, nieces, nephews, and extended family, as well as countless friends, colleagues, and community members who cherished his friendship and guidance.

As we remember Tyler, we honor not only his accomplishments but also his character: a life lived with honesty, loyalty, and heart. His legacy endures in the stories shared, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely. Tyler’s spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know him.
